Karla contributes to Child Proof Advice as a mother, grandmother and seasoned educator with 30+ years of Early Childhood Education experience. She has been a Certified Teacher for private and public educational environments and an elementary classroom teacher.
Karla is also an approved professional development trainer for the Department of Human Services early childhood programs where she implemented reading and writing workshops to increase student literacy. She has assisted in developing student-led after-school tutoring programs to teach under-privileged students, mentored and trained 10+ academic coaches on successful teaching strategies during tutoring instruction while also tutoring struggling, average and advanced students in all subjects. Karla has also collaborated with a team of faculty to develop weekly professional and educational goals.
Continuing her contributions to the education of children, Karla partnered with a fellow educator in creating an educational services company, MasterMinds Educational Services. For students in grades K-12, this effort became a Tennessee State educational services provider.
Karla is also experienced in public relations and marketing for self-publishing literary works.
A wife to Michael for 25 years, she brings to Child Proof Advice her family expertise as a mother of three adult children and a first-time grandmother of a one year old. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading a good book, gardening and traveling wherever there’s a beach.
Non Profit Experience
Collaboration with a team of child therapists led to the development of Memphis Kids Konnected, a support group for kids whose parent, sibling, or family member has been diagnosed with cancer or who has passed away from the disease.
Families Matter is a Memphis, TN ministry that strives to promote healthy relationships and families with a mission to increase the number of healthy, loving and caring families through a community – wide movement.
Karla served as an Educational Consultant where she worked with teachers and students utilizing the Connections: Relationships & Marriage Curriculum.
Karla also co-facilitated a program for young girls with Girls. Inc in collaboration with Families Matter. ( http://familiesmattermemphis.org/ )

A native of Texas, Leigh Rainwater received her graduate degree in counseling psychology from Boston University.
Upon returning to Austin, Texas, Leigh pursued her professional counseling career in a variety of settings including non-profit agencies, family child guidance centers, and ultimately, private practice.
Leigh also supervises Master’s level social workers and counselors and is a Texas Board approved supervisor for post Master’s level clinicians.
Additionally, she has facilitated numerous training programs for other professionals on topics such as leadership development, art therapy, grief and loss, cultural awareness, and group psychotherapy.
She has presented at professional conferences on working in collaborative teams in addition to obtaining advanced clinical training in creative therapies. Leigh has served on several non-profit boards including Ashera Project, a youth development project, Hill Country Play Therapy Association and the Austin Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
Leigh and her family moved to Charlotte, NC for cooler temperatures and easier access to Europe. She loves traveling the world, entertaining her menagerie of cats and a dog, running, attending weekend Farmer’s Markets and cooking nutritious meals for her husband, Patrick.
Dr. Johanna Vidal-Phelan
A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dr. Vidal-Phelan is an exceptional Pediatrician with over fifteen years of clinical experience. She is a resident of the Central Pennsylvania area with her husband and two children.
Dr. Vidal-Phelan obtained her B.A. from Wellesley College and Doctor of Medicine from Rutgers. She completed her MBA from George Washington University. Her General Pediatrics Internship and Residency was completed at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Vidal-Phelan is a member of the American Medical Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is currently Vice President and Medical Director for the Care Centered Collaborative with the Pennsylvania Medical Society.
Johanna watches over the care and safety of two teenagers and all of the children of her patient families. As a committed Pediatrician, her professional focus is on safe and healthy children which she supports through activities with organizations like Child Proof Advice.
The Founder and President/CEO of Child Proof Advice, Marjorie graduated from college with a degree in Psychology and Management. Her professional experience crossed several industries including Sales, Management, and Human Resources.
Like many, she pursued various career directions until developing her own entrepreneurial dream became a driving passion. A perpetual volunteer and always an advocate for children, Marjorie repeatedly found herself involved in community service activities centered around helping children. She knew it was personally important to draw upon this desire to protect our most valuable asset, our children.
The inspiration for Child Proof Advice was a perfect match incorporating her skills in Marketing, Management and Sales with a love for children. As a result a commitment was born to contribute back to society in a way not yet experienced; in a way offering a longer lasting benefit to others and a more meaningful reward for herself.
